eCall / ERA-GLONASS:
eCall and ERA-GLONASS are a European, respectively Russian initiative to combine mobile communications and satellite positioning to provide rapid assistance to motorists in the event of a collision. u-blox provides verified wireless modem and satellite receiver components and test environments to support development of in-vehicle emergency call systems for Europe and Russia.
To help system designers address the expanding range of Global Navigation Satellite Systems systems (GNSS) and augmentation services, as well as other demanding criteria such as low-power consumption and extremely small size, u-blox introduces u-blox 7, u-blox' seventh-generation GNSS receiver platform.
u-blox’ globally available online assisted GPS (A-GPS) service enables u-blox’ GPS receivers to compute a position within seconds, even under very poor signal conditions.
Embedded in u-blox' wireless modules, CellLocate increases reliability and supports indoor positioning based on hybrid GPS and 2G/3G mobile network attributes.
When GPS signals are blocked (e.g. in tunnels or indoor car parks) u-blox’ Automotive Dead Reckoning (ADR) technology allows uninterrupted vehicle navigation based on heading and distance data provided by external sensors.
u-blox’ GPS clock synchronization technology allows globally distributed computer and telecom systems to synchronize their clocks accurately, continuously and cost-effectively.
